## Question

When a system describes its own limit, does that description create a new level with a new limit?

## Formulation

The recurring move is to objectify a rule, boundary, or indeterminacy and then subject that object to the same operation. A proposed escape can therefore become another instance of the problem.

## Tension

An outside classification of one self-referential instance does not establish a universal procedure for all instances.

## Challenge

What operation is actually available at the next level, and can it be specified without an unexplained external oracle?
